Minnesota River page The Minnesota River has a major impact on water quality of the Upper Mississippi and the Minnesoat Agriculture Dept. has done a good job of compiling information on runoff, source point pollution etc. Mississippi Headwaters Board water quality monitoring and educational programs by and for school groups. Soil magnesium runoff in the Mississippi watershed sounds wierd, buts its impacts on crops and food are important.
